SOCOODEIFE women have an opportunity to provide social, physical, emotional and spiritual support for the seniors. They have the capacity to serve with energy. They possess integrity. They are a driving force in their community. More importantly, they provide leadership on a subject that deserves prioritization – that of helping the senior citizens in their community. .
Various tragic events suffered here in the African continent have exposed the tremendous cracks in its long-term Community Care systems. SOCOODEIFE strives to fill in these cracks as best they could.
SOCOODEIFE women understand that the seniors need to experience a sense of normalcy and their needs ought to be seen through a much more compassionate lens. SOCOODEIFE women are determined to pull their suffering African seniors from the depths of despair they dwell in. Seniors need immediate attention and support from SOCOODEIFE organization. SOCOODEIFE needs to act with urgency now.
Here are the points that SOCOODEIFE women are demanding
in every province in every country in Africa:
1. To provides local, provincial, national and international programs and services to support vulnerable seniors so that they can live as independently as possible.
2. Afford the African seniors more quality of life during this pandemic (from 2020 - ) and bring our health systems out of a long-term care crisis.
To help achieve these objectives, the SOCOODEIFE organization endeavors to provide the following:
A rollout of wide-ranging social programs such as meals-on-wheels, medical transport and financial assistance for our African seniors to support their independence and wellness in their own home is much needed.
Home care is offered by the SOCCODEIFE organization to support our African seniors who are unable to take care of themselves without assistance from a caregiver. Unlike a specialist nursing home, the caregiver from SOCOODEIFE stays all day with the seniors. The biggest difference between home care and a nursing home is how much freedom the seniors have. With a nursing home, everything is decided for our African seniors, but with home care, seniors retain most of their independence while receiving help with the tasks they are no longer able to perform on their own.
Providing housing assistances in the form of temporary housing is our priority. To prevent seniors from becoming homeless we assist our African women seniors aged 60+ to secure and maintain affordable and appropriate housing. SOCOODEIFE women engage people around the African continent to take action to help the seniors. They also tap on the resources provided by grassroots leaders in order to educate the senior citizens.
SOCOODEIFE women arrange opportunities programs and seek to empower seniors around Africa through one-on-one interaction and support, allowing them to achieve their full potential and transform their lives, their communities and their countries.
SOCOODEIFE ensures that seniors develop and maintain their relationships with the other seniors of their communities. This helps them maintain contact with their friends, families and other community senior members. This has a positive emotional effect on the senior citizens and contributes to their sense of well-being.
As opportunities present themselves, SOCOODEIFE will organize educational and counselling services such as seminars, workshops and support groups which are designed to help seniors to live healthy and independent lives. In certain circumstances, SOCOODEIFE may also develop individual activities with seniors and their families that will reduce isolation and loneliness and help to encourage a sense of community among the seniors.
